Objective - End-to-end design for a start up that focus on prevention health devices
Project duration - 1 year
My late father had Dementia, and Dementia remains one of the most pressing global health challenges, yet early diagnosis is still inaccessible, expensive, and inconvenient. Recognising this gap, I co-founded MindSens, a health-tech innovation that enables early and accessible at-home dementia screening using a cutting-edge biosensor. While my co-founder developed the sensor technology, my role as CEO and Lead Designer was to ensure the solution seamlessly integrates into people’s lives, making early detection effortless and empowering.
Current dementia diagnosis relies on late-stage symptoms and costly, clinical assessments, delaying potential interventions. Our challenge was to design a ecosystem that would bridge the gap between lab-developed technology and real-world accessibility, ensuring that people—especially those at high risk—could easily use MindSens as part of their daily health routine.
One of the challenges is ensuring that the technology was not just functional but user-friendly, accessible, and scalable
Key Features
Seamless At-Home Testing – A blood biomarker test that users can administer from home, reducing reliance on clinical visits.
Personalised Digital Experience – A companion app that guides users through testing, tracks cognitive health trends, and provides actionable insights.
Integrated User Journey – Designed a frictionless end-to-end experience, from onboarding and testing to result interpretation and next-step recommendations.
Healthcare System Alignment – Developed a service blueprint that connects MindSens with existing healthcare infrastructures, ensuring adoption by clinicians, caregivers, and dementia organisations.
As the lead service designer, I was responsible for:
User Research & Market Insights – Conducted in-depth research with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals to uncover pain points and validate user needs.
Service Blueprinting & Ecosystem Mapping – Designed a comprehensive framework outlining the touchpoints, interactions, and stakeholders involved in delivering MindSens.
Prototyping & User Testing – Developed iterative prototypes of the user experience, refining them based on real-world feedback to ensure accessibility and ease of use.
Stakeholder Engagement & Strategy Development – Collaborated with global healthcare organisations, dementia charities, and policymakers to position MindSens as an industry-leading solution.
My work in service design directly contributed to MindSens securing non-dilutive research funding, through successful pitches to global organisations and governments. The innovation has received recognition in the UK, Dubai, and China, earning awards for its impact in healthcare and early diagnostics.
We aim to build a comprehensive ecosystem, offering end-to-end care for neurodegenerative diseases and at-home detection for various health conditions, with a vision to become a leader in HealthTech for at-home prevention and holistic care.
